A Tale of Garments Worker



I worked for a sweater factory near about two years… One of the leading factories of Bangladesh… Working on this factory makes me much near to the workers of ready made garments. For some professional reason I would like to skip the name of the company… Via this blog I would like to share my experience with the unfortunate labors of Bangladesh. Now let’s begin the story with a real story teller…..


My First Task

I joined as admin officer, in that time the factory is under construction. But the production was going on… that was a pick season of sweater production; everyone is too much busy… Shortage of worker so every day we are hiring workers… I was new so my manager gives me task to hire worker!!! You may be thinking it may be a difficult job…. No sir, Everyday lot’s of worker stands on the factory gate…. Hay… is making you confused???... At beginning I told shortage of worker and now I am telling you that lot’s of worker all-time stands on the factory gate for job seeking!!!!... I will omit your confusion but not in this post, I will solve this puzzle for you in my next article…

The Real Interview


My security inspector collects all the documents from the jobseekers at the morning and I call them one after another… for your understanding I am giving you one of my conversations with a Jobseeker…
Me: What’s your Name?
Jobseeker: Minhaz Sir (This is a demo name)
Me: Where do you live?
Jobseeker: *******Sir
Me: Where are you working now?
Jobseeker: ***** sweaters.
Me: In what section do you work?
Jobseeker: I am a Knitting Operator Sir.
Then I saw his papers, National ID or Birth Certificate, Chairman Certificate etc. and maximum time the documents are fake and all documents collected from any nearest shop (This is a great business near any garments factory!!!!).

The War Begins  

Then send him to the Production Manager and doing some chat He send him to the floor for work….. Yes, you read the right sentence Production Manager send him to the Floor for work without providing him any appointment letter….         
Question in your mind: who is accountable for providing the appointment letter Admin officer or Production manager?
If you asking this question that’s mean- you have to enter the real problem of our garments industry…
